When doing a cracked windscreen repair, all you need is a windshield repair kit. A crack or a chip happens when your windscreen is hit by a solid material. First, it starts with a small chip then it spreads out onto the other parts of your windscreen until it appears as a large crack. Ignoring the problem is not a solution. A cracked windscreen repair should be in order right away.

Getting Started – Cracked Windscreen Repair

The first step in doing a cracked windscreen repair is to clean the surface with a glass cleaner. This should take all the small pieces of glass in and around the cracks. Be careful so as not to worsen the crack when picking out the small pieces of glass. Let the surface dry completely.

When its dry, use the adhesive suction tool from the windshield repair kit and position it so that the center of the tool is directly over the crack. You will also find a syringe-like tool inside the kit. You will use this to place it on the center of the suction tool.

Make sure it is positioned steadily in the center and it should align with the crack directly. Double check the alignment if you have to. The positioning is very crucial for the repair to become successful.

Finishing the Job – Cracked Windscreen Repair

Once its aligned correctly, take out the repair resin from the kit. Now, make two drops of resin on to the syringe-like tool. Read the repair kits directions for the exact number of drops that you need to make for the crack. After making the drops, use the plunger of the syringe-like tool to push the substance lightly so it touches the crack.

Pull the plunger out to release air and retighten it back. Leave the tool there for a couple of minutes or read the kits instructions for the exact time. Once its done, carefully remove the tools one by one. After this cracked windscreen repair, the crack on your windscreen should look less visible.
